What is kitchen or bathroom resurfacing?

This is the process of applying a new surface coating to tiles, splashbacks or cabinets within your bathroom or kitchen to restore style and bring up to date with modern standards.

What are the benefits of resurfacing your bathroom or kitchen?

The cost of a resurfaced bathroom is fractional compared to a full renovation, and respraying your tiles takes far less time to complete, meaning you can have your dream kitchen/bathroom within days, not weeks or months!

How long does it take to resurface a bathroom?

Depending on the drying and curing process, a bathroom can be resprayed and back to full functionality within 1-2 days.

How long does it take to resurface a kitchen?

A resurfaced kitchen usually takes around 3-4 days to complete. The reason this takes longer than bathrooms is because we remove all kitchen doors and drawers and resurface these off-site in our purpose built spray booth. We find that the finish achieved by doing this is far superior than resurfacing these hanging in their original settings.

How long does a resurfaced bathroom or kitchen last?

With good care and maintenance, typically a resurfaced bathroom or kitchen will last up to 10 to 15 years.

How long is the resurfacing warranty?

We provide a 5 year warranty on our resurfacing work. This excludes bench-tops which have a 3 year adhesion guarantee.

When respraying surfaces, does it smell or leave an odour?

Whilst resurfacing is taking place, the smell is similar to a strong paint smell. We use a ventilator and a mix a sweet smelling scent with our products to make the odour more tolerable. Once spraying, the odour doesn’t linger for long, you will find that within 3 to 4 days the smell will have mostly dissipated.

Do I need to be out of the home when resurfacing takes place?

It is entirely your choice whether you remain on site while the resurfacing takes place. Most customers usually pop out for a couple of hours whilst the actual spraying is in process, more for convenience. We usually advise our customers that if they have small children or house-bound animals, they may want to take them out of the house whilst spraying is taking place due to the fumes and dust however all products we use are completely safe and non-toxic.

Do resprayed surfaces chip easily?

No – they do not chip easily but with anything, care must be taken with these areas. Refer to our care and maintenance instructions for more information.

Will I get mould in my grout lines after respraying?

No – an added bonus to resurfacing is that your existing grout will be re-sealed by the paint meaning no more mouldy grout!

Will the paint dis-colour and go yellow?

Resurfaced areas should stay white unless a cleaning product has been used which is not recommended in our care and maintenance  instructions.

What surfaces can be resprayed?

Almost any hard surface can be resprayed. These include but not limited to: kitchen bench-tops, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, splashbacks, shower cubicles, bath-tubs and all wall tiles.

Can you resurface floor tiles?

As above, almost all hard surfaces can be resurfaced however we do not recommend resurfacing floor tiles as these are high-traffic areas that are likely to be effected with time and as such our warranty does not cover this. Our recommendation would be to instead replace floor tiles at the same time as you are resurfacing your bathroom walls or kitchen splashbacks.

How much does bathroom resurfacing cost?

A question we get asked a lot is how much does reglazing a tub cost? Resurfacing is a cost effective and highly affordable option compared to full bathroom renovations as you are using existing fixtures, and costs much less than traditional ‘pull out an replace’ projects.

The reason for this is you don’t need plumbers, electricians or cabinet makers which can be expensive. Contact us today to have our resurfacing expert visit for an obligation-free quote.

I only want to resurface part of my bathroom or kitchen, can I do this?

Yes, the choice is entirely up to you.

Do we need to buy our own fixtures and fittings?

The choice is yours – you can use the old fixtures (however this may affect the overall aesthetics), you can buy new fittings, or we can also help you with all your fixtures in your bathroom and kitchen:

  • We can supply a full range of bathroom & kitchen tap ware at reasonable prices.
  • We can supply new vanities and toilets at great prices.

NB: we supply only. You will need to arrange your own plumber to install vanities and toilets

What impact does resurfacing have to the environment?

Resurfacing your bathroom/kitchen is an environmentally friendly alternative to a full renovation. This is because keeping your existing cabinets, benchtops and splashbacks, helps to minimise landfill.

What is used to resurface kitchen counters?

At All Class resurfacing we use only premium quality resurfacing products that are purpose made for durability in wet areas such as your bathroom, so you know that the fresh look of your kitchen will last for years to come.
